Customers of North Devon Homes were treated to a free day of fun and games at their annual Customer Summer Fayre.

In the new location of The Park Community School in Barnstaple, even the drizzly weather couldn’t put a dampener on proceedings as customers enjoyed activities including donkey rides, a petting zoo, bouncy castles, face painting, a treasure hunt plus many competitions and prize winning games. The day concluded with a soaking of the Chief Executive, Martyn Gimber along with other North Devon Homes staff, when customers were invited to throw wet sponges at them.

After he’d dried off, Martyn said, “Our Customer Summer Fayre is a real highlight of the year for everyone here at North Devon Homes. Our teams work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure the day is full of fun and games for all the family as well as informative, with stands and demonstrations from our partners and exhibitors. And with the response we received from our customers at the event, it would appear it really paid off and with customers telling us what a fantastic day they’d had.

“As a community landlord we work hard to create communities where people want to live, and we cannot do this without the input of our customers. The Customer Summer Fayre is a fantastic opportunity for us to all be together in a relaxed environment where we can have fun with our customers as well as talk to them. This is so important in helping us to understand what matters to them and how we can work better together.

“We have a good history in customer involvement and in recent years we have pioneered new ways to get more people involved in our decision making and policy setting through our various customer groups. We recognise not everyone has time to attend these groups but that doesn’t make their opinions and thoughts any less important. The summer fayre is such a great chance for them to talk with us in the informal setting and know how much we value their input.”

The Fayre offers customers and their friends and family a free day of fun whilst also offering support and advice from North Devon Homes’ partners and other exhibitors. This year the stalls included money managing advice, education services, recruitment support, Citizens Advice and information on protecting the planet.

All North Devon Homes customers were invited and everyone who attended received a free hot meal, ice lollies and hot and cold drinks.

“The event couldn’t take place without the support from our headline sponsors’, adds Director of Neighbourhoods, Marc Rostock. “We are incredibly grateful to Pearce Construction, James Electrics, Bowdens Cleaning Services and Aico, as well as the many other contributions from local partners and businesses.

“It also couldn’t take place without our customers. 1 in 10 people in North Devon live in a North Devon Homes’ home and we would like to thank everyone who came along. It was great to see our customers, old and new.”

Alongside their Summer Fayre, North Devon Homes holds regular community events for their customers including cinema club, bingo and coffee mornings. For more information, please visit www.ndh-ltd.co.uk/your-community/events-and-activities
