Ongo invited clients, colleagues and local businesses to celebrate the success of the Endeavour project.

The project (led by Ongo), supported 289 disadvantaged people from communities across North Lincolnshire, focusing on mental health issues and barriers to work. It also supported older people, those with disabilities, lone parents and young people aged 16-25.

The team helped clients to develop the confidence and skills they need to move forward and make a real difference in their well-being and employment status, through coaching and counselling, activities, job searching, training, employment, work placements and volunteering.

Events and groups include brunch group sessions, golf in society, walk and talk, mind work sessions, wellbeing and nutrition workshops, and art and craft sessions.

They’ve also had great fun getting out and about, for example they had multiple visits to the bowling alley, Cleethorpes, the Humber Bridge and Fountain Arts.

The European Social Fund (ESF) awarded £300,000 of funding to launch, with Ongo contributing a further £200,000 as part of their promise to reinvest profit back into communities.

The event, at The Wortley House Hotel in Scunthorpe, celebrated the project and those involved, with over 40 people attending in total.

Paul Akester, Endeavour participant said: “I’ve been on the project for the past one and a half years, it’s helped me and others immensely and I’ll be really sad to see it go.”

Kay Minto, another participant said: “I can’t thank the team enough for helping me with my journey, they’ve played such a big part in helping with my confidence and getting me to where I am now. I would never have got up to speak in front of people before and I’m sad to see the project ending.”

Emma McLeary, Endeavour Mental Health Specialist at Ongo said: “This event was an opportunity to showcase the amazing progress of each of those who have accessed the Endeavour project since it began in July 2021, and was a chance for them to celebrate their individual successes.

“Whist it covered a brief snapshot of the entirety of the work which has been carried out by the team and most importantly, the participants, the day really gave all of those in attendance a true understanding of how this has positively influenced so many lives.

“I’m sure I speak for the whole team when I say that it has been a privilege and a real honour to work with so many inspirational and truly courageous people from our community and I will take many personal memories from this for sure.

“The Endeavour team would like to wish each and every one of them every success for their future.”
