Bite Size Webinar | Turning Myths into Trust

29 July 2026 14:00 - 14:30

Communicating Facts in Housing Allocation

How do you communicate complex housing allocation processes in a way that builds understanding, confidence, and trust — especially when misconceptions are widespread and emotions run high - and community cohesion has never mattered more?

In this focused, practical PlaceShapers webinar, communicators from South Liverpool Homes (SLH) will offer us the inside track on its new toolkit which is tackling this challenge head-on “Let’s Talk Facts – Who Gets Our Homes?”

Following a customer survey showing that nearly 80% of respondents did not fully understand how homes are allocated, SLH identified significant misconceptions — including beliefs that factors such as ethnicity or immigration status influence decisions, and concerns about fairness for local people.

In response, SLH has developed a clear, transparent, myth-busting organisation-wide approach designed to explain that allocations.

This session will feature Michelle Bloore and Eddie Allen from SLH communications team, who will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how the campaign was developed and delivered — and what communications teams can learn, and apply to their organisations.

They’ll explore how SLH is:

  • Addressing misinformation and rebuilding trust through clear, consistent messaging
  • Using data and local insight to challenge assumptions constructively
  • Developing accessible FAQs and myth-busting content that resonates with residents
  • Communicating fairness and transparency in a highly sensitive area
  • Engaging communities through events and ongoing dialogue.

Attendees will leave with clear, transferable approaches to help strengthen trust, improve understanding, and communicate fairness with confidence.
