Joining PlaceShapers helps us learn from others, strengthen our collective voice and make sure our customers’ experiences are heard nationally.

PlaceShapers is proud to welcome back Magenta Living to its national network of place-shaping housing organisations.

Magenta Living is based in Wirral, with most of its 12,650 homes there, alongside some in Halton, Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East. It plays a key role across the Liverpool City Region as a locally rooted housing organisation working closely with partners to improve neighbourhoods and opportunities for residents.

Andy Lomas, Chief Executive of Magenta Living said: “Magenta Living is proud to play an active role in the Wirral community, working closely with our partners across the Liverpool City Region. Joining PlaceShapers helps us build on that work. It gives us the chance to learn from others, strengthen our collective voice and make sure our customers’ experiences are heard nationally. We’ll also be able to share what works here in our communities, while bringing our own experience as a landlord that puts people first.”

Matthew Walker, PlaceShapers Chair and Chief Executive of Leeds Federated Housing, said: “We’re delighted to welcome back Magenta Living as members. Magenta Living’s deep commitment to its residents and communities makes it a strong addition to our diverse network.

“We’re looking forward to supporting Magenta Living’s place-shaping ambitions and to our members learning from its work. As partnership working is at the heart of place-shaping, we’re particularly inspired to learn more about Magenta Living’s work in strategic partnerships with Wirral and Halton councils, and its ambitions for the Wirral neighbourhoods identified as a Pride in Place area over the next decade.”

PlaceShapers brings together organisations that share a deep, long-term commitment to people and place. Membership is agreed by the PlaceShapers Board of nine chief executives representing the diversity of its membership. The application is assessed based on the housing organisation demonstrating that it:

  • Has a long-standing commitment to the places it operates and how it strives to improve the social and economic resilience of the communities it works with.
  • Puts residents and customers at the centre of what it does and ensures they have real influence on the organisation.
  • Is locally focused and works actively with local authorities and local partners to improve and shape places at a strategic and operational level.
  • Builds homes that respond to local housing needs and provides more than just landlord services because it cares about the people and places where it works.

About Magenta Living

Magenta Living is proud to be Wirral's largest social landlord, at the heart of our communities. We were born here, and we'll always be Wirral first, but our impact reaches further, because the places and people we serve beyond Wirral matter just as much to us.

Our story began in 2005 when we were created through a stock transfer from Wirral Council as Wirral Partnership Homes. Later, we became Magenta Living - a bold new name that reflects our ambition to keep customers at the heart of everything we do, champion local needs, and create opportunities that go beyond housing.

Today, we provide quality, affordable homes and support people to live independently, but our role is bigger than bricks and mortar. We work alongside partners, invest in neighbourhoods, and share ideas to help customers, colleagues and communities thrive.

Everything we do is guided by our value of Doing the Right Thing and driven by our purpose: to empower people. That's what makes Magenta Living more than a housing provider - we're here to open doors to homes full of love, communities full of life and a world full of possibilities for everyone.
