Parliamentary launch of our new report

16 September 2025

On Tuesday 16 September we welcomed around 60 people to the House of Lords to launch our new report – Realising the Potential of Housing Associations in Places and Communities.

Members, residents, stakeholders and parliamentarians joined us at the event, kindly hosted by Lord Best, to celebrate the place-shaping work of our members and discuss their contribution to the government’s ambition of a decade of national renewal.

It was great to hear Lord Best share his thoughts on the importance of place-shaping housing associations and why he is a long-standing advocate of both the sector and our members.

It was also a good opportunity for members to network, make new connections and share what is unique about the sector with the MPs who attended the event.

Housing associations are uniquely placed to drive meaningful change in communities and contribute to the government’s ambition for a decade of national renewal.

Our members already deliver beyond bricks and mortar – from health and skills to regeneration and climate resilience. But with smarter spending and support from national, regional and local government, they can be an even bigger force in shaping better places and brighter futures.

This new report sets out the changes the government and policymakers can make to unlock the sector’s full potential.

As well as exploring the recommendations in the report, the event was an opportunity to continue to build an understanding of the role of our members and the difference this makes in communities across the country.

We will be talking to the government and policymakers about how to implement the recommendations in the report to unlock the full potential of housing associations.
