Taking practical action to address child poverty
29 January 2026 14:00 - 15:30
As part of our focus on economic place-shaping, this webinar will explore what actions housing associations can take to help address child poverty.
In the UK, approximately 31% of children live in poverty, which amounts to 4.5 million children.
This event will reflect on this critical issue, explore what the government's new child poverty strategy and end of the two-child benefit cap could mean for the families we house, and share how Gentoo are working in partnership with members across the North East to bring real change for their communities.
Along with other speakers, you will hear from Louise Bassett, the Chief Executive of Gentoo about the practical steps they are taking to help their residents and communities. Gentoo are a member of the North East Housing Partnership, who have pledged to work together to tackle child poverty in the region.
