Wednesday 2 July, 11am-3pm
We are excited to launch our series of study visits with a trip to South Liverpool Homes. As part of our focus on physical place-shaping, we are inviting members to join us to learn more about South Liverpool Homes’ approach to biodiversity and their plans to improve access to, and use of, green space.
You will be well looked after on the day, all you need to plan for is getting to and from Liverpool Lime Street Station. We will meet you there at 10.30am and all travel together to South Liverpool Homes. We will also drop you back in time to catch your train home from 3.30pm onwards.
The visit will give you the opportunity, to see first-hand, their innovative Grow Speke project, a community space and garden, and hear how it has been developed in partnership with local groups and the Speke community.
All courtesy of South Liverpool Homes, the visit has been designed so you:
- Take away transferrable learning on developing a community-led approach to biodiversity
- Learn about how this is delivering a brilliant resource for residents, schools and communities
- Understand how it was developed and funded, including partnerships with the police and community partners
- Talk to residents and volunteers about the difference it makes locally
- Discuss with staff the lessons learned along the way and future plans
- Hear directly from the team responsible for driving sustainability at SLH to understand its strategic value
- Network with other PlaceShapers members and create connections for future learning
- Enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch.
If you are interested in sustainability, the environment, community engagement, or just want to learn more about a brilliant place-shaping organisation, then this day is for you.
Our Chief Executive, Catherine Ryder visited South Liverpool Homes last summer, you can read more about her experience here.
