As part of our focus on social place-shaping, join us to learn more about the work Pioneer do to support and build resilient, connected communities.

Wednesday 13 August, 11am-3pm.

You will be well looked after on the day, all you need to plan is getting to and from Birmingham New Street train station. We will meet you there at 10.30am and all travel together to Pioneer in Castle Vale in Birmingham. We will also drop you back in time to catch your train home from 3.30pm onwards.

Hear from members about the value they took away on our first study visit to South Liverpool Homes.

Pioneer are a truly unique organisation – they prioritise the well-being of the place and its people, not just housing, and take pride in Castle Vale’s community identity. They even took on and run a football stadium because they could see its potential as a community asset and didn’t want it to close and fall into decline.

All courtesy of Pioneer, the visit has been designed so you:

  • Take away transferrable learning on developing a community-led approach to regeneration.
  • Hear how Pioneer have built local partnerships that have made a real difference to the resilience of the Castle Vale community.
  • Understand how Pioneer position themselves at the heart of the community and how they build strong relationships with their residents.
  • Are inspired by their community centre and the brilliant people who work there.
  • Learn about their structure and how they deliver services and assets through their charitable arm.
  • Network with other PlaceShapers members and create connections for future learning.

If you are interested in regeneration, community development, investment and engagement, or just want to learn more about a brilliant place-shaping organisation, then this day is for you.

Our Chief Executive, Catherine Ryder visited Pioneer last winter, you can read more about her experience here.

Please note: Member events places are only available to PlaceShapers member organisations and their representatives.
