As part of our focus on economic place-shaping, join us to learn more about innovative work of Ongo in Scunthorpe to improve the economic prospects and lives of their residents and communities.
Ongo provide a range of services designed to support their communities, including mental health support and skills and personal development training. They also run two community hubs that offer a range of activities for people and are the beating heart of their local communities.
All courtesy of Ongo, the visit has been designed so you:
- Take away transferrable learning on their approach to supporting their communities with their mental health.
- Hear about their work to improve the skills of their residents and provide practical advice to get people back into work.
- Discover how Ongo Recruitment operates as a social enterprise, connecting local people to job opportunities, helping businesses recruit talent and reinvesting its profits into local communities.
- See first-hand their brilliant community hubs and how they bring communities together and support people through mentoring, employment advice, training and personal development.
- Learn about their unique approach to linking housing and sport and their relationship with sports clubs that provides free access to live sport for their communities, with over 1500 tenants already benefiting from this.
- Are inspired by their inclusive, resident centred approach to creating opportunities for their residents and communities to thrive, including the creation of an allotment providing food for its community café and its very own post office.
- Network with other PlaceShapers members and create connections for future learning.
