Response of PlaceShapers to today's parliamentary announcements by Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Michael Gove on cladding costs and building safety.
CEO Rachael Orr said: "We hope today’s news will signal the end of a cladding nightmare for thousands of leaseholders.

"We remain concerned about funding wider building safety costs, but the commitment by Michael Gove to ask those who caused this crisis to pay, rather than blameless leaseholders, is hugely welcome.

"We also welcome the commitment that general taxation will be used if developers do not pay up. Paying for cladding can't lead to the loss of desperately needed affordable homes.

"Today's announcement is also a huge credit to those who have campaigned tirelessly to end the cladding scandal, including residents, residents groups and Inside Housing."
