Wirral apprentice shortlisted for national award
Magenta Living apprentice, Lisa Hilton, has been shortlisted in the Trade Apprentice category at the national Direct Works Forum awards, the representative body for housing associations across the UK.
Lisa joined Magenta Living as an Apprentice Electrician in 2011, after graduating in Applied Psychology from Liverpool John Moore’s University. As well as carrying out her apprenticeship duties, Lisa also visits Wirral schools to talk about her apprentice journey, and tells pupils that having focus, drive and commitment are vital attributes to succeed.
She said: “Mine has certainly not been a traditional route into an apprenticeship, but it is a journey which I’m immensely proud of. Becoming a qualified electrician as a single mum is pretty special!”
Chris Boynton, Apprentice and Technical Training Manager at Magenta Living, said: “Lisa began her training as a complete novice, but she has never allowed that situation to be a barrier to her. With her ‘can-do’ attitude and extremely strong work ethic, she always pushes herself to exceed expectations.”
Winners will be announced on 6th June 2016
