SBHG has selected three new Board memberswhose skills, experience and diversity will further strengthen governance.

We understand the benefit to our organisation of diversity in skills, experience and backgrounds. This is why we are proud that a third of our board are female, a third are BAME (black and minority ethnic) and eight percent are LGBT.

Nana Banton, a consultant working with companies ranging from FTSE 100 to SMEs, brings 15 years’ experience in business transformation and change management in the private and public sectors; including health, telecoms, logistics, international development and Central Government.

Dave Bradley is Director of People & Culture, Retail at Primark, and has extensive experience at director level at organisations including Metropolitan Housing, EY and ASDA as well as experience in manufacturing, logistics, financial services, energy, aviation and real estate.

Shani Mashhood is Head of Digital Monitoring at the BBC with extensive experience of change management, business performance improvement and transformation as well as managing leading edge transformational technology solutions and projects providing growth and innovation across public and private sector.

Chair Russell Caller said: “One third of our Board is made up of residents which ensures residents remain at the heart of what we do. Our new Board members will bring a wealth of expertise and experience. We had some very strong applications with Dave, Nana and Shani best meeting our requirements in terms of experience and skills. We also had an aspiration to achieve greater diversity and these three new appointments will bring that.

“Good governance is key to delivering our 2018-2023 Corporate Strategy and we move forward in a position of strength after our recent governance upgrade from the Social Housing Regulator. SBHG now holds G1 and V1 status which are the highest standards for governance and financial viability.

“I’d also like to thank our former Board members Rommel Pereira, Angela Spooner and Ruth Barnes who between them have given 20 years of commitment as Board members.”

Nana Banton said: "Having grown up in this area of London, I am particularly passionate about supporting the local community and its residents; and look forward to contributing to the further growth of SBHG through membership of its Board."

Dave Bradley said: "I’m delighted to be joining SBHG at an exciting time of the organisation’s development both now and looking to the future. I believe my skills and experiences, in the people and change space, from diverse sectors can make a positive impact to SBHG and in turn make a great difference for the local communities that we’re connected with."

Shani Mashhood said: “I am delighted to be joining the Board at such an exciting time. Responding to digital developments and changing customer demands, taking advantage of technology and innovation whilst developing new affordable homes, it is clear SHBG is committed to putting its residents at the heart of everything it does.  I look forward to working with the rest of the board to support SBHG in its plans.”

In line with governance procedures, Dave, Nana and Shani are co-opted onto the Board until the next Annual General Meeting when they stand for election.
