Glad you clicked through but you’ll need to come back on Wednesday 29 June to find out about We Work. Trust us, there’s going to be some amazing stories showing how PlaceShapers up and down the country change people’s lives...
We welcome the report and the focus on critical issues – residents’ voice, rights, and home building.
PlaceShapers chair Sinead Butters said: “It’s clear significant investment is needed in in new affordable homes. Our members are already building thousands of new homes but we want to do so much more – and with the right Government support, in subsidy and access to land, we can.
“We want the Regulator to regulate consumer standards as robustly as economic and governance standards – they are intrinsically linked. We worry that splitting the Regulator in two wouldn't help drive up standards, and would create unnecessary bureaucracy.
“This has to be the moment when all parties agree - more resource and stability for Regulator, new or strengthened standards, and proactive enforcement, not just relying on the serious detriment test.
“We were shocked that Grenfell residents didn't know of the Regulator. If there is any chance our residents don’t, we must do better informing them.”
“On home building the Commissioners have been clear on significant investment needed in new affordable homes. Our members are already building thousands of new homes but we want to do so much more – and with the right Government support, in subsidy and access to land, we can.”
