PlaceShapers members make up 40 per cent of the most influential and inspirational housing association chief executives in the UK.
Leaders from amongst the PlaceShapers membership once again feature prominently in the 2014 ‘Power Players Top 50’ list just published by 24Housing magazine. PlaceShapers has eight people in the top 50, including two new entries, and 12 amongst the top 30 chief executives.
Pride of place goes to PlaceShapers’ Chair and chief executive of South Yorkshire HA Tony Stacey who is ranked 3rd overall (up from 13th place in the past two years) and is the top, 1st placed housing chief executive.Tony is pictured on the right.
Two more PlaceShapers are in the top 10 overall - Julia Unwin, Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust who is placed 7th (up from 23 last year) and new entrant Steve Stride of Poplar Harca and this year’s CiH vice-president. Geeta Nanda, chief executive of Thames Valley Housing remains firmly in the overall top 50 and she and Julia are PlaceShapers’ two out of the five top women on the list. Nick Atkin (Halton), Matthew Walker (Leeds Federated) and Peter Walls (Gentoo) retain their places in the top 50 overall and are joined by new entrant Lisa Pickard of Leeds & Yorkshire HA. A further five PlaceShapers appear in the top 30 housing chief executives list: John Morris (Trident), Andrew Lycett (RCT Homes), Chan Kataria (East Midlands Housing), Aileen Evans (Aragon Housing / Grand Union Group) and Duncan Forbes (Bron Afon).
Responding to the news, Tony Stacey said: “I am immensely proud of the strong showing by PlaceShapers in the 2014 Power Players lists which once more demonstrates just how our message about community focus and social value has struck a chord. To achieve such a high personal standing is of course an honour and I thank all those who voted for me for their support and confidence. PlaceShapers without doubt has growing influence and it is fabulous to see so many of our inspiring leaders also recognised individually. These are tough times and visionary leadership matters more than ever.”
