Value, Safety, Customer, Accountability and Local are the five headline priorities for community landlord, North Devon Homes, as it unveils its corporate plan for the next 3 years.

Value, Safety, Customer, Accountability and Local are the five headline priorities for community landlord, North Devon Homes, as it unveils its corporate plan for the next 3 years.

With a mission of ‘working together to create communities where people want to live’, these five commitments have been agreed upon following close work with customers, staff and the North Devon Homes’ Board.

The commitments are:

Value

  • The rents and the cost of living in a North Devon Homes house offers good value for money
  • Income received will be reinvested into customers’ homes
  • Investment in new homes will help to meet the need for more affordable housing

Safety:

  • All homes are safe, well designed and maintained
  • To prioritise major improvements in homes to improve their energy rating
  • Repairs to be undertaken on time and in accordance with repair standards

Customer:

  • To understand customers and deliver an excellent customer experience

Accountability:

  • To be open and accountable to customers by providing professional accessible services that are designed to reflect the needs of customers

Local:

  • To have a locally based in-person service offer
  • Remain a local community landlord

Colin Dennis is Chair of North Devon Homes. As the Corporate Plan for 2024 – 2027 is published, he explains, “We take pride in being more than just a housing provider; we are a community landlord with a genuine commitment to supporting our customers. Nearly all our staff live in the local area which helps ensure our decision-making processes are informed by a good understanding of the district and the needs of customers and communities.

“Our strengths lie in our people and building strong relationships is not merely a goal for us but a guiding principle,’ he continues. “We actively work with and listen to our customers, valuing their insights and perspectives that help to shape and influence our decisions. This corporate plan is a testament to that approach and our desire to ensure North Devon Homes operates in the best way it can.”

Jane is Chair of the Customer Board Partnership and a customer of North Devon Homes. She says, “It is fantastic that the priorities set out in the plan for the next three years have been agreed upon mutually by customers and the Board. It is important that the voice of the customers is heard at every opportunity to ensure that conversations that happen in the living room are also heard in the Board room. By inviting customers to attend the Board and other meetings, North Devon Homes allows the customers’ point of view to be heard in a way that really matters and that makes a difference.”
