National award for one of the best retirement housing schemes in the UK

Axiom's extra care scheme receives national award

The Pavilions, an extra care scheme run by Axiom Housing Association in Peterborough, has received a national award for being one of the best retirement housing schemes in the UK.

The silver award from the Elderly Accommodation Council (EAC) was presented to Axiom at a special ceremony held at the Birmingham National Motorcycle Museum.

The EAC is a national charity that aims to help older people make informed choices about meeting their housing and care needs. It developed a 'Play Your Cards Right’ game to help consult with residents in sheltered and extra care schemes about the services they receive.

The Pavilions in Alma Road, Millfield, was one of 295 schemes nominated for an award and residents, staff and board members were invited to join around 200 other guests at the ceremony. They were delighted to be one of 25 schemes to receive an award.

Rebecca Kightly, sheltered housing manager at Axiom said: "The residents thoroughly enjoyed the day and were over the moon that their extra care scheme had won silver for the best UK retirement housing scheme in the 30-49 units category.

"They were extremely proud to be able to represent their scheme and collect the award on behalf of all the residents.”
