Social return on investments
Fundamental to our vision of ‘Improving lives Incommunities’ is our commitment to invest in our customers lives, their homes and their neighbourhoods.
Formed in 2003 the group celebrated its 15th birthday earlier this year.
In that time we have invested over £450 million in modernising local homes, regenerating neighbourhoods and building new properties. Since 2006 we have delivered 745 new homes across Bradford and Huddersfield.
Incommunities is backing the expansion of a local multi-million pound jobs programme to help local people into work. Working with Bradford Council, Jobcentre Plus, Leeds City Region and the careers enterprise Aspire-Igen over 1400 jobs have so far been created across the Bradford District.
The job creation programme places job seekers in paid placements with employers including Incommunities, giving them valuable skills training and experience.
Incommunities are also the lead partner in a new approach called Skills Training Employment Pathways (STEP) which offers a package of tailored support for unemployed over-25s looking to find permanent work.
We run an award winning graduate training programme through our Centre for Partnership Team to develop housing leaders of the future.
The Graduate Employment Mentoring (GEM) Programme is a 12 month learning programme run by the housing group’s Centre for Partnership. It includes paid work experience traineeships involves housing and local authority partners in England, Scotland Northern Ireland and Canada! The Programme is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) with students studying for a Level 4 qualification for the Housing Profession.
We also run a nationally recognised apprenticeship programme which trains talented young people to build exciting careers in construction. Our recruitment takes a ‘home grown’ and inclusive approach drawing trainees from across the district’s diverse communities. In the last five years the number of women apprentices has increased by over 200%.
The learning combines on site work experience and college-based training leading to a minimum NVQ level 3 qualification.
Over the last 15 years Incommunities has trained 135 apprentices with nearly 98% achieving their professional qualifications
