GUHG launches new 2020 Vision

Local housing provider, Grand Union Housing Group (GUHG), has launched 2020 Vision, its new five year Corporate Plan.

2020 Vision was presented to stakeholders at an event in Milton Keynes, which saw David Orr, National Housing Federation Chief Executive, and world champion athlete Kriss Akabusi speak.

The five year plan sets out  the Group’s vision of more homes, stronger communities and better lives.

At the event David Orr spoke about some of the challenges housing associations face: “The Government is asking some really big questions of the sector at the moment. All of us are being challenged to think differently, but that doesn’t mean our goals should change. I am really pleased Grand Union have a plan to build more homes.”

Alan Humphreys, Group Chief Executive, said: “Whilst we are proud of our achievements so far, our future plans must address the significant challenges we face, in particular to provide more homes and improve the lives of our customers and others within our local communities. Our staff are key to helping us achieve that”.

Kriss Akabusi has worked in partnership with GUHG over the past few years on Project Mackenzie, an award-winning and pioneering training programme for young people looking to get into work.

The Olympic silver medallist said, “Collaborations and partnerships are vitol. I need to know the people I’m working with share the same values as I do and Grand Union do. They took a leap of faith to set up our partnership. They’re definitely more than just bricks and mortar.”
