Day One
Tuesday 23rd November 


9.30am – 10.30am: Opening Plenary – In Conversation with PlaceShapers

Come and hear from Chair Matthew Walker and CEO Rachael Orr on our work during the last year and our future plans. Matthew and Rachael will be in conversation with Peter Hubbard, Senior Partner, Anthony Collins Solicitors


11.30am-12.30pm:  Key Note – Richard Blakeway, Housing Ombudsman

Join Richard Blakeway and Coastline Housing resident Joe DeVille as they discuss the changing role and work of the Ombudsman, and the key challenges landlords need to meet. Chaired by Carol Carter, CEO Origin Housing and Board Member, PlaceShapers


1pm – 2pm: Lunch and Learn - PlaceShapers’ New Brand – led by Creative Bridge

As the new PlaceShapers brand and website is unveiled, this is your chance to hear from the creative brains behind the project, with Nicola Winn, David Bardell and Roz Chiro from Creative Bridge. Pritti Allen, head of communications at emh Group and Joanna Charlton, PlaceShapers communications lead will bring in the member-led approach that's led us to where we are now. Chaired by Claire Higgins, Vice-Chair, PlaceShapers 

2.30pm-3.30pm: Seminar One - Disruptive Innovation

Leading authority in Disruptive Innovation, Ian Wright, Chief Executive of the Disruptive Innovators Network, a membership organisation for social housing providers investing in innovation will be exploring what Disruptive Innovation is, what it means for the sector, how we can benefit from it, implement it and what could it mean for PlaceShapers. Chaired by Kate Wareing, CEO, Soha.


4pm-5pm: Seminar Two - Levelling Up

Much has been said about ‘Levelling Up’ but how will it affect our sector? Board Member, Paul Fiddaman, Paul Howell MP, Karbon resident Ann Potts and Manningham Board Member Abdul Ravat will be discussing the role housing associations have in Levelling Up and asking can we do more?


Day Two
Wednesday 24th November
 
9.30am – 10.30am: Seminar One - Working with residents and communities to get to net zero

The sector is doing a huge amount of work on decarbonisation and how we meet the net zero target. PlaceShapers have been working closely with our residents and Tpas to identify the challenges faced by our members.  Jenny Osbourne, Chief Executive of Tpas will lead this session attended by Clive Betts MP, Cross Keys resident Karen Igho and John Kiely, Director of Housing and Public Sector at Savills defining where we are on the journey to net zero and what are our next steps will be.


11am-12noon: Seminar Two - Cyber Security and why it’s so important to the sector

There has been a number of high profile and costly ‘cyber attacks’ in the last year and it has become clear that housing associations are high on cyber criminals hitlists.  PlaceShapers member Flagship Group have been a victim of cyber-crime.  Their Director of Information Security Laurie Brown will be sharing their experiences in this vital seminar. Sharing the learning from the process and advising how fellow PlaceShapers can protect themselves from similar attacks in the future. Chaired by Cath Purdy, PlaceShapers Board Member. 


12.30pm-1.30pm: Lunch and Learn - Diverse Voices, One Year On

Our ‘Diverse Voices’ series was launched at last year’s conference, primarily in light of the rise of the Black Lives Matters movement. It didn’t stop there and throughout 2021 we have held a series of sessions exploring a range of diversities. In this session, chaired by by Mushtaq Khan, Chief Executive, HDN and featuring Sandra Skeete, CEO of Octavia, Angela Lockwood, CEO of North Star and Josh Cliff, Partnerships and Programmes Manager, Positive Footprints we will be reviewing and reflecting on the year we’ve had and looking forward to the year ahead, identifying topics for future session and future challenges we face.


2pm-3pm: Keynote Speaker- Peter Denton, Chief Executive, Homes England

Peter Denton’s recent appointment as Chief Executive of Homes England marks a new phase for the agency.  Join Peter in conversation with PlaceShapers Chair Matthew Walker as he shares the exciting plans he has for Homes England and PlaceShapers role within them.


3.30pm-4.30pm: Closing Plenary - Customers and consumer regulation

Fiona MacGregor, CEO, RSH will be bringing the conference to a close by sharing the RSH plans for upcoming consumer regulations and members and tenant’s role in shaping this.  Particularly the improved regulations and the tenant satisfaction measures, built on from the sessions organised by PlaceShapers earlier in the year. Andrew Van Doorn, Chief Executive of HACT and friend of PlaceShapers will be chairing the session.
