Digital Buddies - Ruby's first Skype call to France

Our Digital Buddies project, partnered with South Norfolk Council, MTM Youth Services and funders Norfolk Community Foundation, works with young volunteers to support tenants in our sheltered schemes to gain digital skills and open up a whole new world of possibilities!

Digital Buddies provide support on a one to one basis and help tenants with:

  • Understanding how to use IT equipment like laptops, desktop computers, tablets and smart phones
  • Creating an email account
  • Shopping online
  • Joining Facebook
  • Watching catch up TV
  • and much more!

The video link shows Ruby, aged 98, who recently decided to get online and treated herself to a new tablet. With the support of our Digital Buddies she recently used Skype to catch up with relatives in France and Canada who she hadn’t seen in years, all from the comfort of her home!

The project featured here was held in Diss and has now come to an end but we are hoping to get more funding to set up another group in South Norfolk.

It‘s really worth watching!!
