Charity Boost For Mind

Shropshire Mind has received an unexpected boost to its funds, after staff from Shropshire Housing Group presented the charity with a cheque for £2,347.59 at The Bell Inn in Crosshouses.

Every 12 months, staff from the group, which includes Meres & Mosses Housing Association, South Shropshire Housing Association & Total Response Ltd nominate their Charity of the Year.

With a worthy cause in mind, they have had loads of fun fundraising with all manner of activities including a Bake Off, raffles, dress down days and their annual charity quiz.  The latter was supported by a number of local businesses, notably The Bell Inn Cross Houses, The Brooklands, Meole Brace, The Albion Vaults, Shrewsbury, Sutton Farm Butchers, The Midlands Co-Op in Wem, The Horseshoes, Dorrington, R Ridge Coal & Solid Fuel Merchants and Lily's Garden Café Shrewsbury.

Heather Ireland from Shropshire Mind said: “We are delighted to have received a cheque from Shropshire Housing Group.  The money raised will go directly towards the support of the thousands of people each year that we help, either face to face, by telephone or email. We are open seven days each week in Shrewsbury and hold weekly groups in Ludlow, Bridgnorth, Oswestry, Market Drayton and Church Stretton. Mental health affects everyone at some point during our lives and we are here to provide that essential support within our local community. “

Jake Berriman from Shropshire Housing Group said: “Staff and volunteers at Shropshire Mind have been working tirelessly for the last 40 years to help people in mental or emotional stress; bridging the gap between treatment and full independence, whether that in the short or long term.  We admire what they do immensely and are very happy to have raised over £2000 so they can continue to support people with their work.”
