Learning and earning with local housing association

B3Living has been shortlisted for an award for their contribution to developing apprenticeship programmes in England.

Speaking ahead of National Apprenticeship Week in March, B3Living’s Chief Executive John Giesen said: “The positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, our business and our community means B3Living have chosen to support 28 apprenticeships since 2011.

“Our 12 current apprentices are working and studying to develop skills in electrical installations, painting and decorating, housing, communications and plumbing.  They get a qualification whilst gaining real work experience and a wage. We’re very proud to have that work recognised and to be up for Employer of the Year in the Apprenticeship 4 England Employer Awards. ”

Customer Service Apprentice, Phil Drati says: “The reason I love being an apprentice at B3Living is because I get to learn and gain a qualification and new skills while working.  I am respected and valued by my colleagues at B3Living.”

But it’s not just about working and studying – 70% of local jobs need a driving licence so B3Living subsidise driving lessons to give apprentices the best chance of finding the right job when they are ready to move on.

B3Living apprentices are also working together to help Broxbourne Food Bank through donations and fundraising.  They have raised over £800 for this local good cause and kept the food bank well stocked during the difficult winter months - donating over 470 kilograms of food, three times the weight of an average UK man.
